[THIS REVIEW HAS SPOILERS, BE CAUTIOUS AND READ THE DANG BOOK]
Charlie Thorne and the Last Equation was an incredible book, to say the least. It had drama, slice-of-life, chases/fight scenes, incredible solution(s), and some relatableness in between.
The characters weren't easy to identify as 'good' or 'bad', and that makes the book especially good because they each have their own distinct set of morals, dignity, and feelings.
From Charlie being a cunning, smug little 12 year old, to Dante constantly being tricked by her, the characters are extremely well written. It wasn't too fast-paced, nor too slow.
It had one problem though: how it dealt with tough experiences.
[!!!SPOILERS AHEAD !!! BE CAUTIOUS WHEN SCROLLING DOWN!!!]
There were numerous things that had happened to Charlie, like being held at gunpoint, being hunted down like an animal, being blackmailed by the two people she trusted most, witnessing (and even causing) death firsthand, and that's only the psychological side, not to mention her godawful parents.
She jumped off a 70ft+ high snowy cliff TWICE (and survived with no injuries??), was in a car crash, an explosion/fire, [and it also implied a massive fire when she was younger, but I can't remember what book it was in]- and more.
AND THAT'S JUST THE FIRST BOOK.
She apparently is still in a good mental state (well, we'll have to wait and see for the fourth book to come out) and has no lasting scars/injuries.
That's my only problem with the book, final review is 4.7
