Just finished reading The Women, by Kristin Hannah. A historical novel and tribute to the unsung heroes of the Vietnam war - military nurses. The book begins in 1965, when young nursing school graduate Frankie McGrath enlists in the army. Upon arrival in Vietnam, she is immediately plunged into a mass casualty event and deals with truly unimaginable horror. The author brings the country, the young soldiers, the smells, sounds and terror to life. The book follows Frankie's return home after two tours of duty and the heartbreaking challenges she faces trying to adjust to civilian life. A truly epic tribute to the bonds of friendship and the female veterans of the Vietnam war. This will be a book I will always remember. Five stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
