Sage Midson

I think people miss the premise of this movie. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it but to me it's just the most perfect depiction of a dreamscape. Sarah spends all day re-enacting her favourite book, gets home, gets yelled at, falls asleep. I don't think she ever even leaves her room. And the world fades in, no real begining, and that clock motif. Counting down till her parents come home from their date. And the final scene with the clock bell tolling drags her out of it and makes her fall in the dream waking her up. If you didn't notice all the stuffed toys in her room are all characters in the dream (well from the book). 10/10 from me

This film is the equivalent of watching you're slightly sexist uncle make uncomfortable remarks at the dinner table for 2 hours straight. It has the intensity of cornflakes. I get it, but it just isn't a powerful message, it's been done a million times before. The internal struggles of the boy are the main draw but they aren't shown at all until the very end of the film. There's 1h40 of nothing at all leading up to nothing at all and all of a sudden it clicks, but it's too late. The movie had already lost all of my attention, I was anxiously waiting for the movie to end so I could go and do something else.
