A very ambitious series: part medical drama, African militia thriller, psychological drama, and love story fairytale. It is often all over the place with a bumpy rhythm which felt like the messiness that life is. The ending is a twist out of left field and I loved it.

HEARTWARMING FAMILY STORY.
The overbearing, meddling, narcissistic at times, Chinese mother is depicted impressively well in this drama. The daughter is patient, understanding, and mature far beyond her upbringing. I enjoyed how every character realistically develops throughout this series. I had my doubts and criticism about this show in the beginning, but the ending plot twists won me over. The Mother Daughter song that premiered during the 2023 Spring Festival show fits so beautifully here and I wonder if it was written specifically for this series.
