The Longest Week was actually a pretty good movie overall. The vibe, the cinematography, and the dry humor really worked well together. It had this sort of artsy, Wes Anderson-lite feel that made it interesting to watch. Jason Bateman and Olivia Wilde did a solid job in their roles, and the pacing was slow but kind of intentionally so, it matched the tone of the film.
That being said, the ending was a bit disappointing. After all the build-up between Conrad and Beatrice, it just felt kind of empty for them to not end up together. Their chemistry carried a lot of the film, and to see Conrad end up alone made the whole journey feel a little pointless. It wasn’t necessarily a bad ending, but it definitely could’ve been better or at least more satisfying. It left me feeling like something was missing.
So, yeah. Good movie with some charm, but the ending didn’t quite stick the landing.
