I am convinced that the reviewers that have rated this 1/5 are incompetent of realising the true open-endedness of the film. Because it is a sci-fi film does not mean it needs to garner action at every scene or shot. It’s a beautiful take on how humanity and the societal norms of our day is the essence of normality in their world but reversed. Is it right for the apes to be lesser than? Is it right for the humans to take back what was “theirs?” Or is it okay to live side by side? What constitutes as evil or what constitutes as good? We don’t have the answer. Open your eyes and understand that this film is MEANT to challenge you. It’s meant to challenge your thoughts and not have a clear ending or a clear explanation of every minor detail. You need to shroud your head with thoughts of why and how things were the way they were. Its brilliance lies in how you perceive it and what you perceive it as. It does not need you to guide it through every path but the narrative is to curate your own.
