This book was extremely well written! While presenting the events in John's life, the author reveals a side of John that is not often shown. He was charming, polite and generous. That he would be parsimonious with his celebrity in some cases, yet generously help those he cared about by showing up and doing what was required of him, gave the reader a glimpse of John that is seldom seen. He was a good friend. He was a good man. His path was not easy, because of, and despite, his lineage. Too much was expected from him. I was sorry to see the book end. I will read more books by this excellent author. He did his research!!
