We have watched Songs of Praise regularly for many years. It was nigh on 10 years ago that it had came previously from Peel Cathedral; I spotted a former colleague and sent her a screenshot of herself. When SoP was recently again at Peel, we watched to see if she would be there again. She was. Again I sent her a screenshot. Aled Jones had introduced the first hymn from outside the cathedral - and seamlessly it was sung inside the cathedral. My friend enlightened me - it had been recorded in October 2013. She did indeed look younger than she now is. BBC needs to make the licence fees go further. However if Auntie uses 10 year old recordings, what precautions are or can be taken that participants are still alive, and may not meanwhile have died in distressing circumstances, so that their sudden reappearance on the screen causes the bereaved deep shock and renewed grief? … 2 July 2023
