The movie was exceptional. I loved the pacing, although it does differ from other batman film adaptations. The emphasis on crime and horror in Gotham is ever present. Pattinson delivers a game 7 performance in the role, and in some moments, you can tell what his character is thinking simply by the emotion in his eyes, behind the cowl. The subtle hints of piano and violin in the theme, accompanied by the boisterous brass, invokes emotions you simply won't get in other batman films. It's the first you feel like batman might not be the good guy. He might just be as crazy as the people he beats up at night. He's corrupted by grief, that grief turns into rage, and that rage into vengeance. And that vengeance creates grief, which creates rage, and so on. You can tell Bruce is relatively new to the role, as he makes mistakes or skips over stuff when investigating. He takes hits in fights. He startles at the idea of jumping of a building. It's realistic.
