Exceptional! Riveting from page 1. I opened Book One and I don’t kid you, I didn’t raise my head and have a break until I was more then half way through. I consumed the story at lightening pace, it was just so much fun & so engrossing. For me - this is an incredibly rare response to a book & a clear demonstration of just how much I loved reading it.
If you enjoy fantasy novels like Solo Leveling or Omniscient Readers Viewpoint but to name a few - you’ll freaking love this book! In fact it was from the recommendation of a Solo Levelling fan on Crunchyroll that I first heard of TBATE. It’s just so addictive! It deserves an anime adaptation, LIKE RIGHT NOW! .
The author is an American with Korean ancestry but unlike the other 2 light novels I’ve mentioned, this one hasn’t been through the hands of any translators. It the real deal. It’s written by an American for Americans. Although I say this as I sit here in beautiful old New Zealand. And that’s not to suggest that other nationalities aren’t going to rock out on this book as well. If anything, that’s what anime, manga, light novels and WebToons have shown the world. Fiction is not bound to any country, nationality, ethnicity or any other means to classify people. Instead it shows us all just how similar to each other we actually are. How similar our ideas of fun, humour and fantasy are and that even language is no-longer a barrier to us enjoying stories from around the world.
Look folks, if you’re less a reader and more a manga/ webtoon person don’t fret, this is because the author is simultaneously publishing a web comic of the story of TBATE.
By the way, please support the creators & don’t just steal their work. Look obviously if you can’t afford to buy their work, you can’t but even if that’s your circumstance try saving up and buying even just 1 novel or give them a donation via Patreon. 90% of Authors can’t live off the income from their work and have to work other jobs just to survive.
Anyhow enough lecturing from me, hope it didn’t annoy you too much. Look you can buy the novels as paperback or e-books from all major booksellers. There’s a fantastic AudioBook for each book, its narrator’s performance is great available from Audible. And once you’ve consumed all the existing 11 volumes (Books 1-10 + 8.5) it’s even possible to read the latest chapters as they’re first written by the author on their Patreon page. A few weeks later the chapters then move to tapas.io. You’ll also find every other chapter that’s been published on this web-site and so that’s obviously another way you can choose to read and buy the books. For all you web comic fans this is where you’ll find it. I believe they’re publishing a new chapter of the webcomic every week or so. The web comic did start later than the novel so there’s less of it available, but like I said, there’s constantly more being released to keep you entertained.
