What a horrendous outcome! Bviously in the 40s they gave no thought to toxic controlling relationships and thought it was a happy ending when she chose the obsessive and abusive guardian. 😱😱😱 Nowadays we’d realise that she was still mentally and emotionally under his control and would need a lot of work/counselling to get passed that. It was a good plot (except for the ending) and well acted - but the outcome and message it would give to film goers of the day made me feel really quite sick.

Just love these series - yes it’s a crime series but it’s so much more enlarging on characters, struggles and interpersonal relationships. I didn’t expect particularly enjoy it - but I got completely hooked.

This is a good series. I like the character of Grace and the storylines are interesting.

I suspect an expensive film to produce but doesn’t seem to have the flow and the polish of Hollywood - either in the soundtrack or editing. Never-the-less I quite enjoyed it.
