This book broke me. And it fixed me back up. It tore me into pieces. And it stitched me back up. I cannot express how moved I was by this book - it is one of the most human books I’ve ever read - ironic isn’t it? What with it being about robots and all? That’s quite literally what makes this book so magical. The story between Hap and Victor, how they struggle with their own identities and realities, and how they find each other in the midst of all that pain - it made me cry, it made me laugh, it made me feel. It made me hurt in places I didn’t know could hurt. Hap, learning to be human. Vic, waiting for him, always. Rambo, the adorable, neurotic vacuum, loving and loved. Nurse Ratched, the lovely, sociopathic robot, who will always protect them. Gio. It was one of the most breathtaking books I have ever read.
