What’s good about EBTG is that they have lived a full life. They made music in the 80s and 90s that was relevant, touching and sincere. Their Beautiful ballads, catchy pop tunes, moody, smooth lounge and club cocktails infused a night with sophisticated yet honest British soul.
This album is a look backwards and forwards. And so it should be. Their music comes from loving and living in the past 25 years. How can it be anything but reflective and brimming with hope and sorrow. Like Bowie in his last 10 years, these two are not afraid to progress and show their loyal audiences a new perspective.
Overall it’s not polished nor perfect but like an old friend that calls you up after many years, we pick up where we left off. I hope and anticipate there will be more.
