This movie covers the gamut of desperate conjugal relationship...from abused spouse to overprotective parent willing to kill for the children. The story is not told in sequence, making flashback scenes imperative to fill in the gaps. The problem with flashback is that there is no character development, ie. burying the main antagonist under the wood stack (what a way to go). Yet, we learn the trooper engaged in law and order "smelled'' death from the same wood stack...but apparently kept it to himself...what?
These gaps in the story make some characters seem like buffoons. The real kudos for the movie go to Molly's oldest son. Daniel is a 12 year old that is equally protective of his mom, yet willing to trust a stranger. This character is the strong point of the movie, and gives the viewer hope for the future.
