This show is fan fiction. Since they’re so limited on what they can use to create the show they have taken they’re own approach on the Second Age and written seemingly they’re own story. As for the characters I like most such as Elrond, Prince Durin, etc, and then there’s Galadriel who is insufferable in her quest for revenge and insisting no one “knows her pain” even though the War of Wrath decimated entire cities and as the show mentioned almost left Middle Earth in ruins. Lastly would be the costume design, it feels subpar considering this show had a massive budget and it’s just unimpressive. Aside from those points the world setting, the cgi, and the scenery has not a disappointing and definitely helps bring forth the magic of world Tolkien created.
