The combat and gameplay mechanics of this game are amongst the best in gaming. The characters have their own feel and a sort of empowerment to them that is rarely seen once in a game, and it happens for each character in Marvel Avengers. The campaign is sort of cheesy and definitely not where the fun is in this game, but others praise it like it is. The real fun is the endless amount of combos and teamwork that can be combined in battle to make you feel like an Avenger. The game wants you to have the control and power in the game, done so with no animation lock and such things as Thor’s hammer permanently pinning enemies to surfaces. I genuinely feel as if I am such a thing as a mighty Avenger when I play this game, and that leads to more then just button pressing and some challenge. You could play Avengers for over 1,000 hours and still have fun with every minor variation to stopping your enemies, and that makes this game more worth the money then most will ever achieve. If you want bland repetitive gaming, go to Call of Duty, but if you want an inspired work of art, go for Marvel Avengers. The core of this game is one that you want to see extend as far as it can and that is really saying something when compared to the rest of the games out there.
The game “failed” critically because the companies that “review” games probably didn’t get paid enough to write better things.
