My son is reading Legendborn in his English class so I read the first few chapters of the book. Legendborn is predicated on the idea that by learning about her mother's car accident at 16 the main character, Bree, is so traumatized that she develops Dissociative Identity Disorder (aka Multiple Personality Disorder) - "Before-Bree" and "After-Bree." This is implausible. DID only develops after severe repeated childhood trauma before age 9 (typically before age 7). Deonn then confuses the symptoms of DID with schizophrenia, which has a completely different etiology.
