Bottom line, I liked it.
Hunter Killer was action packed and kept my interest, but after reading reviews I came to see some important shortcomings.
Other reviewers with more relevant naval or sub experience said that the film inaccurately portrayed sub tactics and the deadly capability of Russian subs. This in addition to underrating the mental sharpness, patriotism and compassion of the Russian sea men.
The Navy Seals were braggarts, this doesn't comport with what others have described as the real humility of these outstanding American specialists. The XO was dramatic to the point of being insubordinate. He could have ended up in the brig. Some said that an American sub damaged to the extent of the one in the film could never make it back to base.
What can we expect --Drama and American heroes. Would we have it any other way?
