The near rape scene was too brutal to forgive. That required a police report to protect the public and court supervision before any contact whatsoever with an innocent baby. This book taught that its ok to risk the life of children and the life of any other women Ryle would "fall in love with" based on the same rationalizations that women use to stay in an abusive relationships. Ryle was certainly psychologically harmed and is very dangerous due to his severely traumatic incident as a child.
Horrible book. The only value was the entertainment in how bad it was. I would say that this book set domestic violence back.
