Dylan McDermott is the Negan of this show and renders it nearly unwatchable. His over-acting is so cringeworthy that within about ten seconds of a scene he is in, I have to change the channel out of sheer annoyance. Some actors have captured lightening in a bottle and created characters while despicable, we โhate to loveโ them like Larry Hagmanโs JR Ewing or Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter. McDermottโs portrayal of a Machiavellian crime boss is about as menacing as Elmer Fudd and is so campy that it would comical if he werenโt so solemn and committed to his awfulness. Not sure if it is entirely his fault since the dialogue and plots of this show are so absurd that you half expect the actors to stare directly at the camera and mouth โHelp Me!โ Even Christopher Meloni, with his charisma and luscious rump canโt make this claptrap believable. Many longtime fans of SVU feel betrayed by the pernicious and malignant erosion of the beloved character reboot bowel movement.
