Very powerful narrative set in post industrial Glasgow. Some pretty shocking scenes that may offend some readers. Having lived in Glasgow around the same time the story was set I found some of the scenes a little exaggerated. Many of the characters did resemble reality. I don’t think this book was good publicity for Glasgow’s black taxis. Might have been sponsored by Uber..Still a great depiction of how addiction can pull one into utter despair. Throughout the whole narrative we are reminded that natural intelligence is an invaluable aid to survival.
