Actually, I’d give it 3 1/2 stars, but that is not an option. My biggest problem is the level of Poe decision making by Michael Desiati (Bryan Cranston) from the start. It’s obvious that the motivating factor for him is his fear of losing the only connection to his wife. But had he handled it by the book, there were enough mitigating factors in the son’s favor to go with the truth from the get go. I will say, there are a number of great performances, some brief, of note.

The whole horror/noir-ish/darkly-comedic/thriller gestalt is just plain fun. Sharon Stone will get roles as at any age. She’ll never not be sexy. Sara Paulson is deliciously sociopathic Now to the production…It’s 1940’s film noir but in A grand scale, but in glorious bcolor. Everything from production design, to costuming, music, cinematography, set design, editing, writing, directing…and everyone in between makes for, in my opinion, great entertainment. It’s like watching a novel thriller from the mid-20th Century. I’ve written only one other review on a television program once before this and that was for the Fox series Gotham, another show of superior production & acting.
