Stars, what a disappointing result! The books were so well done, but the TV script writers abandoned the author's well crafted story and set their own questionable course.
As a fan of the books, this adaptation represents a big lost opportunity. I feel bad for the author, having to see her work demeaned in this way. The slapstick is out of place. Having the human characters be bumbling fools makes no sense at all. Murdurbot's lack of confidence and skill is a strange shift from the original.
Instead of rooting for the characters, I find I an hoping they are all killed by a giant sand worm so that we can start over. The casting also appears to have been done with an eye towards California identity politics representation rather than in service to the story. The whole thing looks assembled by a Hollywood committee. Awful.
Doubtful this will get renewed. Best to toss this version in the bin and start over!
The weak writing is pure slop.
Hollywood ruins yet another beloved story.
