I cant, for the life of me, understand how people are rating this show 5 stars. Let me preface this little rant with a modifier though. If this show was a one off cop drama without Raylan shoehorned in, and the justified moniker slapped on, it would be a perfectly fine show. But, good god, to try and compare this to the original show is just a crime.
First, Raylan is just barely in the show. His character is paper thin, and a shadow of the man we all enjoyed watching. He doesnt shoot anyone the entire show until the final 15 minutes of the entire run! He doesnt get with Sandy (the obvious parallels to Ava are blatant). Instead we're to believe that he falls in love with an old, overweight defense attorney. Her character is all over the place too. Raylan is barely in the show. It makes sense, as he was absolutely shoed in. The original story didnt include Raylans character at all.
There are basically two to three episodes worth of entirely pointless plot lines that serve no purpose except for to fill runtime. What was the point of Raylans daughter, other than to annoy us to no end with her baby talk? What was the point to carolyns ex husband, except to.......i dunno! It was completely pointless! I suppose they were trying to build her character, but it was poorly done, and thats being modest.
The villain is a total wannabe boyd. Its like the showrunners tried to ride boyds popularity by buying a walmart brand version of his character. But clement has exactly none of the liability or clever wit that boyd had in spades. He was a complete disappointment.
Im not going to tell you not to watch the show, but if you do, lower your expectations. This is NOT justified, even though they named it such.
