Yes, we are taken through the lifetime of Evelyn Hugo but it is the events, decisions, ideas of morality, concepts of love and the undoubtably controversial and provocative stand points that Evelyn takes that is the real journey. This book is not only a good read but a portal in which you can take to really indulge in the deeper questions about your own conscience and wider society. This tale of a beautiful, sexual and most importantly aware woman taking control and using whatever means available to her to rise to stardom is not as simple as that. If you take anything from reading this review I implore you to understand this, this novel is not just a story, a tale, or any other name you'd like to call something lighthearted and enjoyable, this is a transformative piece that I hope is studied and dissected in classrooms internationally for years to come and treated alongside the greats. After finishing, I felt unsatisfied, with questions unanswered and an eagerness for more. This book gave me just enough and still left me wanting more and I have an inkling that is exactly what the author intended...
