Season 4. What a horrible display and diservice to the therapeutic process. The original seasons had their problems but at least made
attempts at demonstrating aspects of the therapeutic process and how change occurs (or not) within the storylines, and could be considered appropriate for a show called In Treatment. This is an overly-scripted overly- intellectualized overly-obvious attempt at demonstrating how sociopolitical and cultural issues exist within a therapeutic setting, with unrealistic over the top characters each representing 1 or more of these issues and a therapist who lectures, chastises, kicks people out of therapy regularly, and is so inappropriate (so far beyond showing how a therapist's own flaws/issues can affect the process as in the earlier seasons) there is nothing here that resembles treatment, and the show does damage to its cause. What a missed opportunity to demonstrate the complexities of these important issues within the realm of therapy and within people themselves. A bit more sophisticated subtlety could have gone a long way here, but there are more problems than that. I dont get the critics' good reviews other than perhaps rewarding an attempt at something difficult. And there is some good acting.
