Reboots are notorious for being disappointing. This review is solely based on episode 1. Any updates of opinion will be added below this post.
Yes, the character of Ted seems like Harvey 2.0. His mannerisms, speech, etc. are all too familiar, BUT... he also seems like the typical high-ranking-bury-yourself-in- your-work exec. He compartmentalizes his personal life, but it bubbles up and explodes onto those around him. Ted, Harvey; they are like so many other male characters we've seen before.
On the surface, Ted is too much like Harvey, and that's a put off. Yet, you do get a glimpse into the real character that separates Ted from the rest. Let's see how much potential this persona has as an individual.
The other characters need to grow. Some positive notes: I liked the character of Leah. She seemed real - green, awkward, trying to make it. I loved Ted's brother and their interactions. In fact, I wondered if Steven Amell wasn't being his true self. Those moments were rather beautiful. Erica and her mom were also refreshing.
I agree that the tempo is pushed. At first, I wanted it to be the same, slow character development as the original Suits, but let's be honest. If they rolled this series out like the first, how much patience would the audience have for 2.0 to get to where 1.0 ended up?
Overall, I think this show could've started out better. I wasn't the biggest fan, but i do see potential (this the additional star), and I'll see where this takes me for now.
