I was given this book by my therapist after enduring someone with bpd for 7 years. If this book had been given to me before that relationship started, or in the first few months of it I 100% would've been able to save my marriage. some reviewers think it's misog or whatever. But I never felt it while reading it. Author is constantly switching between genders when describing the illness to let the reader know that it's both who are afflicted by it. One of the entire first themes of the book is how it's not a "woman's" disease and the reason people thought that back in the day is because of men being misdiagnosed with other things so statistics being skewed and went into great detail to make sure anyone reading it knows that it is anyone and everyone who can find themselves being afflicted by it lmfao If anyone felt targeted by it they probably struggle with bpd and need help. Because this book definitely didn't attack mothers or women at all.
