“The Pacific” tells the actual story of how The United States Marines were given the gruesome task of fighting the well trained Japanese who had taken over the many tiny unknown islands in the Pacific. It was produced by Stephen Spielberg and Tom Hanks and they spared no money showing realistically what was done as Marines fought inch by inch in the most terrifying combat you have never heard of, imagined or seen. But it is all accurate showing Marines from everywhere together fighting like Hell. There are triumphs and heartbreaking moments whether in combat or in Love. I was a Marine Corps Sergeant in the Vietnam war. I know what kind of guts it takes to run toward death.That is how we were rigorously trained. It can be hard to watch for some. But if you make it all the way through the 10th episode you will have learned truths that you may have never even heard of. And you will suddenly see the pictures and lives of many who were brilliantly depicted in “THE PACIFIC”. It made me cry………..
