Sorry, this is just an effort to ride on the coattails of the original series. The lead actress is bland and awkward. That purse dangling from her elbow is annoying. I lived through the 60s. As others have pointed out , no one did their research. The style is all wrong! Dig deeper next time! It was an interesting period. This series is not.

A moving journey with black medical students navigating the rigours of medical school. The chosen young people had interesting backgrounds explaining why they were called to medicine. The barriers to their successful completion were many- these were alluded to matter of factly which added power to their remarkable persistence. There were tears but much joy. Family support supplied the care they all needed. I loved the spring time graduation celebration. I cheered and wept for joy with them. Watch this wonderful production. You will be rewarded.

I found out about this series- and the scandal- through my local PBS channel. Episode 1 was so compelling on tv that I watched the final 3 in one sitting through the online service. This is drama at its finest. Besides being a story well told, the filming itself is a work of art. The horror is enhanced by having many scenes shot in claustrophobic settings- the victims obscured by foreground railings, sitting on narrow stairs. The acting is so outstanding that I was weeping for joy as often as for sorrow. I usually am critical of overdramatic emphasis, but in this case it seemed fitting to have emotional expression in high gear. If this wonderful production does not get multiple awards I will be very disappointed. Bravo!

First and foremost- an artistic triumph. The photography is so imaginative and evocative. Acting from everyone is top drawer. The script is so well done; it feels like eavesdropping into real life. There is no dumbing down to make it easy. You really have to concentrate to get it all. That is true respect for the audience. Thank you to everyone involved.
