I swear overhype is the death of cinema, almost every film I watch never lives up to the hype at the moment. The most recent anticlimax being Us. The trailer makes you think that you'll be watching a creepy thriller, but there's a lot of comedy in it to the point where the parts that are designed to scare you also become comical. People on the screening I was at were laughing at loud, but not at the jokes. It's a film. That feels like it's struggling with its identity, and the biggest mystery of the film is when you're left wondering what the hell you just watched. I swear my favourite thing about that movie is the trailer music. I was so exited for this film.
