The Outlander fan base is quite possibly the most dedicated / infatuated / obsessed in the history of cable television. A prequel series was a an enormous risk that could easily threaten the franchise; I admired the courage in trying it - before I watched it. No knock against the cast, who did an admirable job. But it literally put me to sleep.

A complete revamping of the Jules Verne tale with a good dose of anti-colonialism, mixed with a bit of Taboo, Pirates of the Caribbean and a CW-quality lightness. Thoroughly enjoyable. I’m shocked at how much I like this show. Once again, an example of a network not realizing they produce more series than we can watch at once; they need to give them more time to be discovered by an audience before pulling the plug.

As a stand-alone film, it’s thoroughly enjoyable, cast was excellent, very fun to watch and I’ll see it again. The knock: there was zero reason to change Lucius’s backstory. His royal lineage was from his mother; she was a brave character, her father obviously was, and her first husband sounded like a great man. Would have rather learned about him instead of trying to believe Maximus was a slug, especially with so much of the 1st film showing how devoted he was to his wife and son of the same age?

Excellent film and I think what makes it that good is the people who made it actually cared about the subject. If the budget were larger and the names bigger, it probably would have stunk. The brief scene with two former CHiPs cast members is a riot.

Tobias Menzies is so incredibly good in this (no surprise) that you’ll forgive the series for some of its embellishments with history. That being said, I’d have given this 5 stars if only someone had reminded Patton Oswalt which century this was all taking place in; 6 stars or more if someone’d punched him in the face onscreen for being the only person on the cast that wasn’t taking the role seriously.

When I’d heard they were remaking this, I was skeptical at best. It’s actually one of the best things I’ve seen on TV in years. Stellar.

Fantastic movie. Kept us guessing throughout and the cast was excellent.

The cancellation of this series was the biggest blunder in TV history - I really enjoyed seeing these characters again, and the ending may not have been authentic to the story, but I loved it anyway. Overall I did feel like it was missing 15 to 20 minutes that might’ve tied it together better, but oh well

This was already one of my favorite new shows even before someone decided to cast Judith Light as a murderous ex-con, which was just hilarious. This series is black comedy at its finest.

It’s the best new series of ‘22, reminds me of ‘Ozark’ but incredibly funny at times too. Glad to hear it’s been renewed!
