Take out everything in this film that relies purely on budget and you are left with nothing of quality. The actors did their best, but their acting, the effects, the shots, none of that can save the awful, awful writing. It serves to suck out the heart of this film.
Palpatine being bought back arbitrarily, his lightning being extremely inconsistent, the "navs not knowing which way's up", the knife conveniences, the mcguffins, the myriad setups left unfinished; this is an extremely unsatisfying and nonsensical flick that fails to adhere to the very rules it sets up, riddled with plot holes and contrivances like swiss cheese. Every argument in favor of this film relies on either its beauty (which is an element only attained by its high-budget) or personal feelings and experiences, which is nice but is not a fair quality of measurement. If this was a B-movie without the name attached to it, this film would be condemned to the same garbage bin as films like Jupiter Ascending without a second thought.
