I think it was a solid film and I can see why a lot of people love it the first. I found it to be okay, there were some plot points that felt were elaborated on as much they should have been, and some things the characters did were just over the top not smart.
Summary of my paragraphs:
It wasn’t the film for me, I felt the decision of the characters was a major draw back, there were some good decisions and some really bad ones. I can see why some people disagree with me and why some people love the movie. There were some great scenes. I just felt that due to bad decisions the characters made there were other things we could have explored that we did not.
I think in a time where we have horror films that carefully act out sequences where characters don’t make mind boggling errors that keep the plot rolling, this film just doesn’t hold up.
The cast was great but the plot is 100% reliant on people making just completely horrible decisions and choices. I found some sequences enjoyable but then we’d get to a section that was just full of nonsensical decisions and I’d end up face palming since the tension felt disrupted. That being said there were some really good decisions but there were just a ton of bad ones as well.
That being the said the beginning was fun and the setup was really good. I felt the like ending could have ended much sooner with some better decision making so that took away from the experience for me personally, but I can see how many would disagree with me.
