From the start it looks to be a twist on the whole Zombie movie approach, but it just twists in a downward spiral of really bad writing and unbelievable character motives that just took me out of the movie.
Bautista, was a highlight, showing range and being able to carry most of the film's poorly written characters. If anything good came from this film it's that Bautista should get some good praise and hopefully better opportunities in the future. The daughter character was just awful, not the actress, the character. She drags herself along just to be a vehicle device for the "apologetic father vs. head strong daughter" trope.
I'm a fan of horror, and zombie flicks in general, but this one just irked me the more it progressed. Some of the humor was well timed and help make the long run time easier to digest. There were notable scenes of gore and action that were pleasantly executed. (The tiger stands out.)
Overall I can't say this was a good zombie movie. It's a zombie movie, but not a good one. I'm glad I watched this at home on Netflix and not in theaters.
If you're fan of horror/comedy/drama then it's worth a watch, just don't expect to be blown away or that this is going to revitalize/revolutionize the zombie genre.
