Probably the worst production of W Collins novel I've ever seen. Apart from Charles Dance as the uncle and the actress who played Marian, the rest of the cast act as if they've just graduated from drama school and have barely learned their lines. The art master who in this production looks barely out of his teens is completely miscast. This character is young but he needs to counterbalance the wicked baronet and his hangers on. He needs some maturity to organize the young women's escape to London.
The novel itself is so wonderfully conceived and written that this amateurish production is an insult to Wilkie Collins' art.

"Guilt" was so engaging, I tuned it off after half an hour, Subtitles might have helped but I wasn't prepared for a predictable farce. After PBS's unending pledge drives, viewers deserved something better than this..

I read Sebald's masterpiece many years ago. What has remained with me is his extraordinary ability to compress time and space in an almost architectural way. Austerlitz's mother's journey and confinement in a terrible castle brings the reader to the point of suffocation as her life is increasingly crushed out of her- her space and her time increasingly diminished or concentrated.
I mourn that Sebald's life was extinguished before he could be acknowledged as a winner of the Nobel Prize for Literature.

Story told unhysterically. Judy Dench is wonderful as the elderly Joan. Sophie Cookson as the younger Joan is well cast. The viewer understands her dilemma to share or not to share scientific information with the Russia. Joan was devastated by the dropping of the Atomic bomb on Japan. And felt that equal access to nuclear weapons would result in a stalemate. And peace would have a chance. I found the inter-leaving of scenes with the young and old Joan to be very effective.

Intriguing cop show. Marcella is brilliant but suffers from intermitent mental problems. Definitely worth watching.

I loved the first section about Combray. It was enchanting. But reading "Swann's Way" felt like sinking deeper and deeper into quicksand. Proust keeps comparing Swann's degrading infatuation with Odette as a diseased state. And I keep wondering how much more of his self torture I can take.

I can't understand why and under whose authority Jonas is working in the field. He's completely ill equipped to be an interrogator in ISIS territory. Apart from that, series continues to be superb. The French aren't afraid to show the ugly truths of international espionage.

This show has its good moments but recently it's become a daily tribute to Joe's ego. There's an occasional squeak from Mika but in general, she's the one with the more interesting commentary.
