This movie was an entertaining sci-fi action flick with good performances by Anthony Mackie and relative newcomer, Damon Idris, but has trouble if you actually pay attention to the plot or writing.
The film started out with what I thought was an interesting take on the desensitized nature of drone operations and the toll of collateral damage in the military and impact on civilians. However, it quickly derailed from there with some questionable writing (this Air Force Lt for some reason did his "basic training" at the enlisted Marine boot camp at Parris Island?) and plot direction. They send Idris' Lt Harp with robo warrior, Capt Leo (Mackie) on some stereotypical high stakes secret operation mumbo jumbo involving typical Russian terrorists and nuclear weapons (snooze). The plot is pretty meh after the intro and I'm not really sure what the point of the ending was, but there are eventually some great action scenes with Mackie's Capt Leo that were very fun to watch.
And going back to military content goofs, it's so easy to have current/former military members review content to get it somewhat correct that the blatant mistakes in this and many other military based films continue to baffle me.
Overall, decent movie for some sci-fi action of you want to kill a couple hours, but don't get too hung up on the plot or writing.
