Don’t believe the negative reviews, this was an epic retelling. The music sets off the feeling of gloom and depression throughout. Guy Pearce makes a nuanced Scrooge and the whole cast is without fault. It’s not slow, reimagining a Christmas Carol for the turn of a new decade. As a self identified Scrooge I enjoyed it from beginning to end. It’s not a lefty retelling but coveys Dickens message. If Scrooge existed he would subscribe to the Spectator. Or more likely write for it. Grow a heart!
