*Spoilers*
I started watching the film, desperately wanting to like it. The "Single-room" set-up is one of my favorite movie tropes and the premise caught my attention immediately. The idea of a mental one versus one with a delusional sociopath in which the path to survival lies in figuring out when to play into the serial killer's imagination and when to fight against them is intriguing and more than film worthy. The best part of watching this movie is participating in this battle yourself, making those decisions, and hoping you get to make it out alive in the end. However, that hope goes unrealized. If that enjoyment is enough for you, "The Basement" is worth watching, but if you prefer films where something actually happens rather then just surface-level action, this is not the movie for you.
