I’m sharing my thoughts after three episodes. The first one left me slightly impressed—mainly because of my own expectations from other alien franchises. At first, I was worried that the “Alien” element would be sidelined, with smaller species taking center stage and the xenomorph used only as a hook for fans. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case. The show does an excellent job of building characters and weaving the story. Using the title sequence as the equivalent of a “previously on…” recap is brilliant—it pulls you right back into the world. Sydney Chandler is fantastic, perfectly capturing a sense of innocence. Timothy Olyphant delivers a remarkable performance, reminiscent of Rutger Hauer’s Blade Runner presence but more subdued and cerebral. So far, I’m really enjoying it. More than anything, I want this series to do justice to the franchise. I’m especially glad it’s a series and not a movie—there’s no way you could fit all this content into a 120-minute film. This format feels right, and the show seems to be heading in the right direction.

The show should have stayed in the can. The MCU ended with the appropriately named End Game. Everything is derivative and pandering to an audience that is not the core and target for this material. I’ve been reading marvel comic for 35 years, and have seen all the movies (even post EG), I get reaching out to a broad audience, but if that audience doesn’t care for the source material, then don’t do it to get a few more nickels out of people. I was incredibly excited to watch Ironheart because it had an amazing storyline in the comics. However, it completely failed to live up to expectations. It lacks everything that Marvel is known for. I don’t mean to disrespect the young actress who played the role, but she was destined to fail from the beginning. It’s not that she’s the wrong fit; the story is simply not the right fit for her. I say this because she’s a talented actress.

I agree with most of the posts. The concept is good, I like some of the evil characters. Only a pathetic 5 min scene with the lickers and the “protagonists” the two girls are completely unlikable, I wanted to ground those two for 1 month with no tv. I never rooted for any of them, very spoiled looking, sounding and behaving.

I really liked it. Went in with low expectations, thinking the trailer was telling you everything go you need to know...nope, the trailer didn’t spoil anything. Blum house does a great job in adapting good horror flicks. Choosing Elisabeth Moss, actress from Handmaids sells it. She sells the part perfectly. I do admit, it almost felt too much like handmaids, but still, a solid story and very entertaining movie. For 2hrs and change, I think it’s the perfect time to tell the story and set the stage. If it would have been a 90 min cut, like most thriller movies, it would have been a waste of money. Good call in making it 2hrs.
