The team should have done more research on the customs, rituals, costumes and language of the period in which the legend was believed to have lived. We hear almost all characters speaking contemporary Malayalam. The heroine had just stepped out of a parlour with the sort of facial make up she wore. We have a tendency to exaggerate our hero's beyond the common human beings they were. The character of Kochunni itself is more mythical than real and taken from Ithihya mala which is not history but a balance of myth legend and reality, passed down from the past through folklore and literature. Kochunni is whom many of us would have liked to have been among with us today, where the gap between rich and poor is widening.. Perfect socialist..Many scenes in movie like Kochunni asking for and watching the cabaret at the English camp itself is out of time , unrealistic and distorts the image we carry.
We would like to know and remember him only as our own Robin Hood who served the society by robbing the rich to pay the poor.
