"The women in Indian mythology might be fewer in number, but their stories of strength and mystery in the pages of ancient texts and epics are many."
*The Daughter from a Wishing Tree: Unusual Tales about Women in Mythology* is an amazing book. This collection of stories features enchanting and fearless women who frequently led wars on behalf of the gods, were the backbone of their families and makers of their own destinies.
There are many fascinating stories of the women in our Indian mythology, from Parvati to Lakshmi and from Ashokasundari to Mandodari.
The stories take us through different times and places in mythology. We get to read how Ganga was born and brought to earth, what are the eight forms of Lakshmi, how the first clone of the world was created by a woman and many more such interesting stories. Some of the stories get somewhat boring and pointless but then, these stories help to increase our knowledge of Indian mythology.
Overall it is an enjoyable book.
