I feel compelled to say something about your current production,
‘Operation Buffalo’. On almost every level, I feel this series to be totally offensive, insulting and completely tasteless. I can’t believe it was even allowed to air. It seems to be some sort of sad attempt to make into a kind of pantomime the historical destruction of Koori lands at and near Maralinga. I am flabbergasted!
To try to turn such a shameful and darkly genocidal event in Australia’s colonial history into some sort of Colonel Blimp style soap opera is just beyond belief. Not only is it in unbelievably bad taste but it is poorly produced and overcooked, with all its clichéd attempts at slapstick humour – it simply just comes across as arrogant, dismissive and embarrassingly dated in its content. Do everyone a favour and get rid of it. I am really shocked that this was even allowed to be aired. It just fails on every level. The ABC owes an apology to the families and victims of this awful event. It seems I cannot post this without giving it a star rating - which it absolutely doesn't deserve - it's a minus zero+.
