My step daughter bought this book for her father with the aim of getting him engaged in the kitchen. That was three years ago. I'm still waiting for the engagement.
But I use this book almost every day! It's my first go-to. Last night I made pg 125 Sri Lankan Turmeric & Coconut Seafood Curry. Easy peasy and absolutely delicious!
I noticed that I have spills of spices, oils and all manner of food matter scattered through the pages. Proof of my commitment.
I love Matt's combination of flavours. He makes difficult concepts easy, offers lots of tasty cheats and alternatives and pages of options on basics - like stuffed potatoes - rissoles (OMG you haven't eaten till you try 'Worlds Best Rissoles' pg 88 - seriously!). He writes entertaining intros to each recipe, tips for presentation and impressive dinner menus, make ahead and freezer friendly. The list goes on.
It sounds corny, but this truly simple cookbook has changed my attitude to cooking. I'm learning to love it.
