I saw Mary Poppins opening weekend back in 1964 and loved the movie and could not even think a sequel could live up to the original, but I have to say Mary Poppins Returns certainly did. The score is simply gorgeous and I think many of the numbers will be unforgettable. I found myself humming "Imagine That", "The Cover is not a Book" "Trip the Light Fantastic", and "Nowhere to Go But UP" all day long. Emily Blunt was simply divine and played the character from the books to a perfect high tea! The rest of the cast was superb, and I know there have been negative things said about Meryl Streep but again if you have read the books she played that character very well, and plus you gotta love her standing on her head. I really thought at times I was watching a grand Broadway musical. Speaking of, musical numbers were so well choreographed and filmed and the direction and cinematography were brilliant. For those die hard Mary Poppins fans open your hearts and let her back in with a new story of hope, love, and a spoonful of sugar thrown in!
