Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) an American soldier who’s an airline pilot serving in Afghanistan, wakes up as a different man in a train to Chicago, which is about to blow up in eight minutes, accompanied by a lovely lady (Michelle Monaghan) who thinks he’s her friend. His mission is to stop the bomb from detonating and catch the culprit by an ultimate trial and error approach. The film portrays the theory of time reassignment as every time the bomb explodes, killing everyone, the protagonist wakes up in a space capsule at an unspecified location, taking orders from military through a computer. What follows is an intense, gripping and thought-provoking storyline.
What I like about this particular movie is, though disorienting at first, but in a way compelling, the movie changes things up just when you start getting comfortable with what you think the storyline is. Director Duncan Jones keeps things quick and subtle. The movie is filled with suspense and strong revelations. It is deeper than “science-meets-superhero" tenor leaving you no room to blink. Throughout the movie you will find your eyes glued to screen. The best part of the movie is it’s ending, the ‘feel-good’ end will definitely leave you teary eyed and speechless.
So, are you ready to board the train and experience this journey?
