Mortdecai is a prime example of a promising concept ruined by general badness. Both Johnny Depp and Ewan McGregor tarnish their respective legacies with a movie that deserves no respect. While McGregor's careless performance fails to stand out in any way, Depp brings us a completely uninspired, tired and generally horrible performance that is guaranteed to leave a bad taste in the mouth.
With the immature feeling of a kids movie and the unbalanced censorship that removes children from the target audience, Mortdecai is rebuked by both young and old.
Perhaps the worst part about this whole situation is that the movie could have been stunning, but was instead a bland, unfunny waste of a hundred minutes. Reading the synopsis, one might be interested, but after five minutes in the theater you will begin to understand where I'm coming from.
