I think it's important to say that I've been a COD fan since the beginning, when their games were good. I loved Modern Warfare and Black Ops 1 & 2, and spend countless hours grinding each of those games. Obviously World War 2 was an utter failure, with non-stop glitches and problems, its only decent game play was its campaign. Naturally, Activision did not learn from their mistakes and made an even worse game this time around.
Let's start with Multiplayer... This is what made me a fan of Call of Duty in the beginning, as the original simplistic, balanced multiplayer of the early games was enjoyable for endless hours. However, in this game, it is impossible to play multiplayer without getting almost immediately spawn killed, as Activision clearly paid little to no attention when setting their spawnpoints. Recently I literally spawned directly in front of the same enemy twice in a row, and any gamer knows how aggravating this is, making the game near impossible to play. What seems to be the case in most matches is one person gets a scorestreak early on, then uses that scorestreak to get their other two scorestreaks, and just mows down the other team from the beginning of the game. Their game play in this mode is so horribly thought out, and they have again failed to address many of the continuous problems of the franchise.
I also have loved Zombies since the classic Nazi Zombies back in BO1. Again, they have failed to listen to their community and bring back the classic zombies game play that the majority of players long for and have attempted to alter the game mode in various ways to make it worse. The perk system again strays from traditional zombies and is just sort of silly. The new maps are cluttered and poorly thought out, and the easter eggs are sub par at best.
What is most offensive about this game, however, is how pay to win it is. In this game, you are completely unable to earn points to open crates unlike other games, you have to pay to open any sort of crate. If you want cool skins or outfits, unlike past games, you have to pay for them, where as traditionally you could earn points to purchase crates through playing the game. Call of Duty has given up on creating a game that allows you to earn benefits and accessories, despite the fact you already have to pay for the game as well as additional content in the season pass.
In my opinion the campaign is decent, the story line is alright, and the action is fulfilling in a lot of points in the game. But really, who plays COD for the campaign?
Bottom line, don't buy this game. The game play is disappointing, and you shouldn't support Activision into their transition into an even more money hungry corporation then before.
