I was aware of the numerous negative reviews when I downloaded this game when it was free on PS plus last month. I had no new games, it was free, so i decided to download it. I figured I’ll eventually play it when i get bored. I finally started playing the game 5 days ago. I’m almost 30 hours in, and each day i really found it hard to stop playing. Funny thing is, i glanced at a couple of walkthroughs and I found out I’m not even halfway through. This game is MASSIVE. I honestly don’t understand what critics have been complaining about. I’ve reread a couple of negative reviews, and it seems these reviews were just trying to find a reason to hate this game. The story was going nowhere? Any reviewer who said that clearly hasn’t played this game enough. Maybe 4 hours tops. Repetitive? Aren’t all open world games repetitive? To me it’s not even that repetitive. Missions have enough variety. Maybe having a white male biker as a protagonist just doesn’t fit the trendy liberal agenda. I dunno. Unpopular opinion: this game is way better than the critically acclaimed “The Last of Us”. I struggled to finish that game. i just didn’t find the storyline compelling. To me it was just another post apocalyptic zombie game. Yawn. To me, this genre has been recycled one too many times, that’s why I never thought I’d end up liking Days Gone. Big surprise, I ended up loving it. ….. Update: Finally finished the game two days ago. Couldn’t get enough of it, I ended up beating all the remaining hordes and getting all trophies. I have about 40 ps4 games and I’ve only completed all trophies for 3 games. That’s how much I loved this game. I’d purchase any DLC if they’d release some. Some cons: some of the last few missions were extremely buggy, even short side missions like marauder camps. Particularly the cave horde. Not a dealbreaker. More of an annoyance cause the only way to fix this is to keep resetting the game. It’s been two years since they’ve released this game, you’d think they’d fixed everything by now. There are times when i’m just driving around and i’d hit extremely pixelated areas. That was the sign that it was time for a reset. One time I just kept playing and the motorcycle just exploded for no reason as if i hit something. But overall this is a great game. As a thank you to the developers I just bought the game on the PS store even though I already got to play it for free via PS Plus. This game definitely does not deserve all the hate it got.
