Very intricate plot. It isn't superficial and romance heavy, the romantic aspect is weaved into storyline seamlessly but isn't overbearing. Very deep with subtle humor. Strongly recommend for critical thinkers and history lovers as well as romantics. Characters are beautifully portrayed, multilayered, and well written. I applaud the casting directors and actors, all were perfect for their roles. My favorite Chinese drama by far.
